| Obverse description | Central device consisting of the Tyrolean eagle shield set within an ornate six-lobed cartouche or rosette frame, the shield displaying the characteristic Tyrolean heraldic eagle. The entire central composition is surrounded by a circular Latin legend reading PIETAS AD : OM : UTILIS, meaning 'Piety is useful to all,' with a decorative quatrefoil stop. The coin is struck on an irregularly shaped flan typical of Kipper-period emergency coinage, with a somewhat crude hammered strike consistent with the debased monetary practices of the early 1620s. |
