Obverse description Laureate bust of Emperor Trajan facing right, depicted with characteristic strong features and a short neck, rendered in the restrained classical style typical of Trajanic portraiture. The bust is draped, with the laureate wreath clearly visible atop the head. A partial circular legend surrounds the bust along the coin's periphery, though heavily worn on this example. The portrait is executed in moderately high relief, consistent with Roman Imperial quadrantes of this period.
