Obverse description Bare laureate head of Emperor Trajan facing right, rendered in the characteristic realistic portraiture style of the Trajanic period. The emperor's effigy displays his distinctive cropped hair and strong facial features beneath a laurel wreath. A continuous Latin legend encircles the field, naming the emperor's full titulature. The flan is irregular in shape, as typical of struck bronze quadrantes of this era.
