Obverse description Bare head of Tiberius facing right, rendered in the restrained classical style characteristic of early Julio-Claudian coinage. The portrait displays the emperor's characteristic strong jaw and relatively plain, unadorned effigy, consistent with his austere public image. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait within a beaded border. The die-work reflects the competent but utilitarian standard expected of small bronze denomination production under the early Principate.
