| Opis rewersu | The reverse displays the large letters S C (Senatus Consultum) prominently in the central field, indicating the coin was issued by authority of the Roman Senate, as was standard for base-metal coinage of the Augustan period. Encircling the S C device is the legend SISENNA GALVS A A A F F, naming the moneyers Sisenna and Galus and abbreviating their monetary authority over the striking and casting of gold, silver, and bronze coinage. The inscription is distributed around the full circumference of the coin in Roman capitals. The composition is plain and unadorned save for the legend and central device, consistent with the modest denomination and practical function of the quadrans. |
