Obverse description Bearded head of Poseidon facing right, wearing a taenia or diadem, with flowing hair rendered in thick wavy locks characteristic of late Paestan bronze coinage. Three pellets are positioned in the left field behind the deity's head, serving as the denomination mark for the quadrans. The portraiture exhibits the robust, somewhat schematic style typical of Italian mint production during the Second Punic War period.
