| Beschrijving voorzijde | The obverse presents a modius (grain measure) set upright in the center of the field, flanked by a radiate pileus (cap of liberty) to the left and a winged caduceus to the right, all rendered in a compact, slightly crude style typical of Neronian bronze coinage. These symbols collectively allude to abundance, freedom, and commerce. The circular Latin legend NERO CLA CAES AVG GER runs around the periphery, identifying the emperor as Nero Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, consistent with hand-struck production of the period. The overall composition is characteristic of the anonymous quadrans type issued under Nero between AD 62 and 68. |
