| Obverse description | The obverse features a sacrificial simpulum (ladle) above a tubulus (sacrificial brazier or altar piece), both rendered in low relief as priestly implements associated with the pontifical college. The devices are centrally positioned within a plain field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the periphery, naming the two moneyers responsible for this issue. The overall style is characteristic of the Augustan aes coinage produced under senatorial authority, employing bold, simplified forms suited to the small module of the quadrans. |
