| Reverse description | The large senatorial mark S·C (Senatus Consultum) occupies the central field, flanked by the names of the moneyers Galus and Sisenna, with the formula A·A·A·F·F (Auro Argento Aere Flando Feriundo) distributed around the legend, all rendered in bold Latin capitals. The S·C monogram, standard on Roman bronze coinage of the Augustan period, confirms the authority of the Senate for this issue. The surrounding legend is arranged in a circular band, filling the flat, irregular flan. Surface patination is a deep brown with areas of green cuprite, consistent with prolonged circulation and burial. The reverse design follows the conventional Augustan quadrans format, emphasising the monetary authority of the tresviri monetales. |
