Obverse description Central device depicts a modius (grain measure) or altar rendered in relief, shown in three-quarter perspective within the field. The design is relatively flat and stylized, consistent with the modest artistic standard of Augustan bronze coinage of this denomination. A circular legend surrounds the central device, naming the moneyers Apronius and Sisenna in their capacity as triumviri monetales. The flan is irregular in shape and struck on a compact, thick planchet typical of Augustan quadrantes.
