Reverse description The large letters S C (Senatus Consultum) dominate the central field, rendered boldly and occupying most of the flan. A circular legend running around the periphery of the coin names the moneyers Galus and Apronius along with their authority to strike gold, silver, and bronze coinage by decree of the Senate. The composition is typical of Augustan quadrantes, emphasizing senatorial authority through the prominent S C monogram.
