Obverse description Bare-headed, laureate bust of Emperor Claudius facing right, rendered in a restrained, classicizing style typical of early Imperial portraiture. The emperor's curly hair is rendered with fine detail, and the neck is truncated cleanly at the bottom. The circular legend surrounds the effigy, running from left to right along the coin's border. The flan is slightly irregular, as is characteristic of hammered bronze quadrantes of this period.
