| Reverse description | A civic oak wreath (corona civica) rendered in the round, occupying the central field of the coin. The wreath, awarded to Augustus by the Senate for saving the lives of Roman citizens, became a prominent symbol of Imperial legitimacy on provincial coinage. The mint name TVRI ASO is inscribed within or around the wreath, divided across the field in two lines, identifying this issue as a product of the municipium of Turiaso in Hispania Tarraconensis. The overall execution is characteristic of the provincial hammered bronze coinage of the Augustan period. |
