Caesaraugusta was a Roman colonial foundation in the Ebro valley, established around 14 BC and among the most politically prominent cities in Hispania Tarraconensis. Its magistrates struck local bronze coinage under Augustus using the Roman duoviral system — the II VIR designation here identifies the two chief magistrates who held legal authority over the issue. The names MN KAN IT and L TITIO are attested in RPC as a known pairing for this type, placing this piece within a tightly defined magistrate sequence.
Local Augustan bronzes from Caesaraugusta ceased within a generation; the city never resumed civic coinage after the Julio-Claudian period.
