Quadrans - Augustus C V T

Tarraco served as the administrative capital of Hispania Citerior and was among the first provincial cities in the western empire to receive authorization for local bronze coinage under Augustus. This tiny denomination — the quadrans — filled a genuine gap in everyday transactions that Rome's own mint output rarely covered at the local level. The issue falls within the final decade of Augustus's reign, when provincial minting activity in Hispania was being wound down rather than expanded, making this among the later emissions from Tarraco.
