| Beschrijving keerzijde | Winged Cupid (Eros) depicted standing in left profile, rendered nude in the Hellenistic manner. The figure holds a cornucopia in the raised left hand, symbolising abundance, and an inverted torch in the right hand, a funerary or chthonic attribute also associated with the deity of love. The legend CORDVBA appears in the field, identifying the issuing city of Corduba in Hispania Baetica. The composition is executed with fluid, albeit somewhat provincial, engraving typical of Iberian colonial bronze production of the late Republican period. |
