背面描述 A large, prominent bunch of grapes occupies the central field, depicted in high relief with individually rendered berries arranged in a full, rounded cluster, suspended from a vine stalk with a small leaf visible at the top. The civic legend ΚΑΛΑΚΤΙΝΩΝ curves around the bunch in Greek characters, distributed across both sides of the type in the field. The composition reflects the agricultural prosperity of the region and is a hallmark device of Kalakte's bronze coinage.

附加信息

Kalakte was a minor Sikeliot town on Sicily's northern coast whose coinage history is compressed into a narrow window, largely because the city itself barely survived antiquity — it was absorbed into the Roman provincial order and effectively ceased to function as an independent issuing authority within a generation or two of these bronzes. The timing of this issue places it squarely within the Roman reorganization of Sicily following the Second Punic War, when Rome was simultaneously dismantling Carthaginian influence on the island and renegotiating the status of dozens of smaller communities.

The quadrans fraction specifically suggests local small-denomination commerce persisted here even as Roman monetary norms began pressing inward.
