| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the elaborate tughra of Sultan Mahmud II, rendered in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style with interlaced loops and upward projecting shafts. A six-pointed star is positioned to the upper left of the tughra, and a rosette ornament appears to the right. The coin is struck on a broad, slightly irregular flan with a beaded border encircling the entire design. |
