Ahmad ibn Hud al-Mustansir briefly controlled Murcia and surrounding territories during the chaos that followed the Almoravid collapse, positioning himself as an independent ruler before the Almohad advance rendered such ambitions moot. His coinage is genuinely difficult to attribute with confidence — the political situation in al-Andalus between 1144 and 1147 produced a cluster of short-lived taifa rulers whose mint output overlaps in style and often in epigraphy.
The "uncertain Almoravid taifa" attribution reflects an unresolved scholarly debate, not cataloger caution.
