Obverse description Central field occupied by a bold nasta'liq calligraphic legend reading 'al-Sultan ibn al-Sultan Nasir al-Din Shah Qajar', executed in high relief with fluid, sweeping strokes characteristic of Qajar hammered coinage. The inscription fills the irregular flan with no subsidiary devices, the legend flowing across the field in two principal lines. A dotted inner border is partially visible along the upper rim. The strike is typical of mid-nineteenth-century Tehran mint production, with uneven metal flow evident on the flan edges.
