| Obverse description | Central field occupied by bold multi-line Arabic legend arranged in a roughly square cartouche, reading the royal title and name of Amir Abdur Rahman Khan. The inscription is executed in a robust, somewhat rustic naskh hand characteristic of Herat mint production. A marginal legend in Arabic script encircles the central cartouche, running along the irregular flan periphery. The overall style is typical of late 19th-century Afghan hammered coinage, with uneven flan edges and variable relief. |
