Obverse description A bird depicted in profile, walking or striding to the left, rendered in a bold, somewhat schematic style characteristic of early Muscovite coinage. The body of the bird is prominent with clearly defined wing and tail feathers, and the legs and claws are visible below. The design occupies the central field of the irregularly shaped flan, with the Cyrillic legend arranged around the periphery. The overall execution is typical of the crude hand-struck pulo coinage of the early 15th century.
