Obverse description Depiction of a griffin in the central field, shown in profile facing right, rendered in the crude but characteristic style of late medieval Russian hammered coinage. The flan is irregular in shape, typical of Tver pulo issues, with a heavily patinated copper surface. The design elements are shallow and worn, consistent with the low-denomination circulation coinage of the Tver principality under Vasiliy III. The Cyrillic monogram ωФ appears in the field.
