| Reverse description | Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription in bold, somewhat crude script occupying the majority of the flan, reading the royal title of Sultan Tochtamysh Khan. A partial date in abjad or Eastern Arabic numerals, tentatively read as '78-' (corresponding to AH 78x, i.e. circa 1383), is visible in the upper right portion of the field. The overall execution is characteristic of the debased hammered copper coinage of the late Golden Horde period, with a rough, irregular flan and uneven strike. |
