Reverse description Central field bearing a multi-line Arabic inscription arranged in a rectangular grid format divided by ruled lines, a layout characteristic of Golden Horde pul coinage. The legend names Sultan Toqtamish and is set within a bordered rectangular panel, with additional marginal Arabic text running along the periphery of the irregular flan. The die engraving is bold but somewhat crude, consistent with the hammered copper coinage of the late fourteenth-century Golden Horde mints. The coin exhibits patches of green cuprite patination across the darkened copper surface.
