Obverse description A stylized dog depicted in profile, facing either right or left depending on the die variety, rendered in bold relief within a dotted inner circle. The animal's body is executed in a schematic, almost heraldic manner characteristic of Golden Horde copper coinage of the mid-14th century. Pellets are scattered across the field around the figure, and a dotted border encircles the entire design.

Additional information

The "dog type" puls of the Golden Horde's Ordu mint fall within one of the most turbulent decades in the khanate's history — the period Mongol sources call the Great Troubles, or Velikaya Zamyatnya, during which the western steppe saw roughly two dozen khans claim power in under twenty years. Abdallah, a puppet of the powerful beg Mamai, held nominal authority over the right wing while real political control remained elsewhere.

Ordu mint output from these years is poorly systematized in the literature. Zeno #1191 remains one of the few catalogued anchor points for this specific type.
