Additional information

Muhammad Uzbeg Khan's reign (1313–1341) marked the Golden Horde's political and demographic apex, the period during which Islam was firmly established as the khanate's official religion following his conversion — a move that reshaped tributary relationships from the Caucasus to the Russian principalities. Saray al-Jadida, the "New Saray," served as his administrative capital on the lower Volga, and its mint output was prolific enough that attributing specific types to individual years remains contested among specialists. The Pyr#81 classification places this piece within a large family of anonymous copper puls distinguished primarily by their reverse devices rather than inscriptions.
