Obverse description Central wide checkered shield of four quarters, each quarter divided by a bold cross, with a pronounced sharp pointed base, characteristic of the arms of Urgell. A small pellet is visible at the center of the shield. The shield is set within a circular legend in Gothic-style Latin letters reading TER COM (Teresa Comitissa), distributed around the periphery of the flan. The overall design is rendered in a bold, somewhat irregular hammered style typical of Catalan medieval coinage of the early fourteenth century.
