Reverse description An upright palm tree with spreading fronds and two clusters of dates at the base occupies the central field, flanked on either side by Phoenician alphabetic letters denoting the name of Tyre. The palm tree is a quintessential symbol of the Phoenician city and appears as the principal reverse device throughout Tyrian bronze issues of this period. The composition is set within a plain border, with the Phoenician inscription positioned in the left and right fields.
