Obverse description A vine leaf with prominent lobed margins is depicted centrally, attached to a curling tendril that extends toward the right of the field. The naturalistic rendering of the leaf, a symbol acceptable under Jewish religious sensibilities, fills the flan in a bold, stylized manner characteristic of Judaean prutot of the early Roman prefectural period. The Greek legend ΤΙΒΕΡΙΟC (Tiberius) runs around the periphery, identifying the reigning emperor under whose authority the coin was struck.
