Описание аверса	Open diadem of simple form, without a cross finial, depicted in the central field. The royal legend ΗPΩΔOΥ ΒΑCΙΛΕΩC (of Herod the King) is disposed around the diadem in Greek characters, serving as the identifying inscription of the Herodian royal authority. The flan is characteristically irregular in shape, as is typical of hand-struck Judaean bronze coinage of this period. The striking is uneven, with areas of weak relief consistent with hammered production technique.

The surrounding field is plain, and the flan edges are ragged and irregular, characteristic of the hammered bronze prutot of Herod the Great.
