Promissory note Finančno-gospodarski odsek Okrožnega odbora Osvobodilne fronte v Ljubljani

Issued in 1942 by the Liberation Front's district financial-economic section in Ljubljana, this promissory note belongs to one of the earliest organized partisan monetary efforts in occupied Yugoslavia. The Slovenian partisans under Axis occupation needed a functioning internal economy — to pay suppliers, reward collaborators, and build infrastructure in the forests and villages — and these notes were a direct instrument of that underground administration.

Marjan Tepina's design work for partisan financial documents is a rare instance of a named designer operating clandestinely under occupation. Printing in Ljubljana itself, under Italian and later German control, made production genuinely dangerous.
