Obverse description Crowned Polish eagle displayed in the central field, with spread wings and a small escutcheon on its breast bearing the Vasa dynastic device. The eagle is rendered in a vigorous late-Renaissance hammered style with detailed feather work. A circular inner beaded border frames the central type. The surrounding legend reads SIGIS 3 D G REX P M D L, identifying Sigismund III as King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania, separated by pellet stops.
