Obverse description Central field occupied by the elaborate quartered royal arms of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth surmounted by a royal crown with prominent fleur-de-lis finial. The shield displays the Polish eagle and Lithuanian Pahonia in the upper quarters, with the Vasa dynastic arms (a sheaf) on an escutcheon at center. The denomination numeral 3/9 appears at the base of the shield. A circular Latin legend surrounds the central device, reading SIGI 3 D G REX P M D, abbreviated titles of Sigismund III by the grace of God King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania.
