The denomination numeral '3' appears to the upper left and '0' to the upper right of the crown within the inner circle, together forming the value '30' denarii (i.e. 1½ groszy), while the numerals '6' and '1' appear flanking the base of the crown, forming part of the date 1661. The półtorak — worth one and a half groszy — was a workhorse denomination of the Commonwealth, produced in enormous quantities across multiple mints throughout the seventeenth century. By 1661, however, the coinage was in a miserable state. Decades of war against Sweden, Russia, and the Cossacks had gutted the treasury, and successive monetary debasements had so eroded public trust that foreign coins and commodity barter were displacing domestic issues in everyday exchange.
The Lwów mint operated intermittently and its products from this period are notably scarcer than contemporary output from Kraków or Bydgoszcz. Górecki catalogues only a handful of die pairings for the L.61 issue.
