| Obverse description | Right-facing draped and cuirassed bust of Empress Catherine II, her hair elaborately coiffed and ornamented, engraved in high relief occupying the majority of the field. The mint mark СПБ (St. Petersburg Mint) appears in the lower exergue beneath the truncation. A circular Cyrillic legend surrounds the effigy, reading the imperial title of Catherine II as Empress and Autocrat of All Russia, with the engraver's initials Т·І· incorporated into the legend. The portrait displays the Baroque court style characteristic of mid-18th-century Russian coinage. |
