Obverse description Draped bust of Empress Ekaterina II facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed and adorned with a diadem, wearing a robe with decorative sash across the chest. The portrait is rendered in fine relief with careful attention to the imperial regalia and dress. The Cyrillic legend arcs around the periphery of the coin field, reading ЕКАТЕРИНА · II · ИМП. The coin's small diameter lends the effigy a compact but dignified appearance characteristic of late 18th-century Russian gold coinage.

Reverse description Central device consists of the crowned imperial cypher of Ekaterina Alekseevna (ЕА), formed by two interlaced Cyrillic letters surmounted by an ornate imperial crown, occupying the majority of the coin's field. The Cyrillic legend ПОЛТИНА arcs along the left and upper periphery, denoting the denomination, while the mint date appears to the right. The monogram is rendered in flowing calligraphic style with foliate flourishes, typical of Catherinian-era Russian gold coinage.
