| Obverse description | Draped bust of Empress Ekaterina II facing right, her hair elaborately coiffed and adorned with a diadem, wearing a robe with decorative sash across the chest. The portrait is rendered in fine relief with careful attention to the imperial regalia and dress. The Cyrillic legend arcs around the periphery of the coin field, reading ЕКАТЕРИНА · II · ИМП. The coin's small diameter lends the effigy a compact but dignified appearance characteristic of late 18th-century Russian gold coinage. |
