Obverse description Within a beaded inner circle, a large medieval cog (sailing ship) depicted in full profile upon stylized waves, with a central mast bearing a flag or pennant at its peak and rigging details rendered in relief. The hull of the vessel is shown with decorative hatching, and oars or lateral timbers are visible at the waterline. A Latin legend encircles the design between the inner beaded border and the outer rim: MON ET○CIVITA• DAN, signifying 'Coin of the City of Gdańsk'. The overall composition is characteristic of the Hanseatic monetary tradition, where the cog served as the principal civic emblem of Gdańsk.
