Beschrijving voorzijde Full-length figure of Jean de Locquenghien in 16th-century plate armor stands in high relief, his gaze turned to the right toward a winding canal receding into the background landscape. To his left, architectural elements and drapery fill the field; beside him a stone pedestal bearing the date 1561 and a heraldic lion in relief anchor the composition. The engraver's signature G. DEVREESE appears in the lower left of the field.

Beschrijving keerzijde Two allegorical figures in high relief flank a central dockside scene: on the left a draped female figure personifying Brussels raises a banner aloft, while on the right a nude male figure identified as Mercury, wearing a winged hat, holds a laurel garland above a mooring bollard with coiled rope. Ships and port installations are depicted in low relief in the background. The Brussels civic coat of arms appears in the lower centre field.
