| 裏面の説明 | An elaborate floriated cross occupies the full field, its four arms richly adorned with scrolling foliate and floral ornament terminating in stylized lily-form finials, with a small rosette at the central crossing point. The four quadrants formed by the cross arms are filled with symmetrical vegetal scrollwork of high relief, characteristic of the decorative Gothic style prevalent in the Brabantine mints during the first half of the fifteenth century. A plain inner border separates the central device from the circumferential legend, which is rendered in uncial Latin characters and separated by trefoil stops. The overall composition closely mirrors the reverse type established for the Pieter d'Or series under the dukes of Brabant. |
