Reverse description The crowned arms of Gdańsk — a shield bearing two crosses in pale beneath a royal crown, flanked by two rampant lions as supporters — occupies the central field. The date 1585 appears above the shield, surmounted by the mintmaster's initials. The entire heraldic composition is enclosed within a beaded inner border, with a circular Latin legend running between the inner and outer beaded rims. The reverse legend explicitly identifies the coin as struck from solid gold by the Royal City of Gdańsk.
