Obverse description Armored bust of King Stefan Batory facing right, wearing a closed royal crown and richly decorated suit of armor with a scale-pattern pauldron and ruff collar visible at the neck. The effigy is boldly struck with high relief, occupying the majority of the coin's field. A circular Latin legend surrounds the portrait, contained within an inner beaded border and an outer beaded rim. The portrait displays a bearded and moustached likeness of the king rendered in the mannered Renaissance style characteristic of the Gdańsk mint.
