| Obverse description | The bale mark of the United East India Company (VOC/VEIC) rendered in relief at centre, enclosed within a plain raised circle. The monogram, formed by interlocking letters, occupies the majority of the field and serves as the principal device of the issue. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show characteristic roughness typical of hammered copper coinage produced for the Malabar Coast trade. |
