| Obverse description | The bale mark of the United East India Company (VOC/VEIC) rendered in relief at centre, enclosed within a plain raised circle. The monogram, formed by interlocking letters, occupies the majority of the field and serves as the principal device of the issue. The flan is irregular and the surfaces show characteristic roughness typical of hammered copper coinage produced for the Malabar Coast trade. |

| Reverse description | A stylised figure of a bull or zebu standing in profile, rendered in low relief at centre field, occupying the full diameter of the coin. The animal is depicted with a characteristic humped back and sturdy legs. The overall style is archaic and schematic, consistent with the crude hammered production technique employed for this series of small copper pice intended for circulation on the Malabar Coast. |
