Obverse description Within a beaded or reeded inner circle, the conjoined initials P and G of the co-lords Pandolfo and Galeazzo Malatesta are displayed in the field, separated vertically by a decorative device consisting of a star, a pellet, and a second star stacked in sequence. The lettering is rendered in an uncial Latin hand characteristic of fifteenth-century Italian communal coinage. The overall composition is stark and heraldic, typical of the minor billon issues of the Malatesta signoria.
