| Beschrijving voorzijde | Crowned youthful bust of Ferdinand I, beardless, facing right within a beaded inner circle. The effigy is rendered in a late Gothic to early Renaissance style typical of Habsburg coinage of the period. The royal crown surmounts the portrait, and the bust is draped. A Latin legend in Roman lettering runs around the periphery commencing at 12 o'clock. |

| Beschrijving keerzijde | Crowned shield bearing the arms of Carinthia (Kärnten) — a golden lion on a field — displayed centrally within a beaded inner circle, with the date 1539 divided by the shield, numerals appearing to either side. A Latin peripheral legend in Roman lettering runs around the outer margin, recording Ferdinand I's titles as Archduke of Austria and Duke of Carinthia. The heraldic shield is surmounted by an ornate crown in the hammered style characteristic of Austrian provincial minting of the early sixteenth century. |
