| Opis awersu | Architectural facade depicted in low relief, featuring a central tower or gatehouse flanked by two lateral towers with beaded or crenellated detailing. Beneath the central structure, a rounded arch encloses a prominent six- or seven-pointed star in the lower field, a motif characteristic of Bavarian and Austrian bracteate-influenced pfennigs of the early 12th century. Formbach was a small but strategically positioned county in the Inn river valley, and its minting activity in the twelfth century reflects the fragmented monetary authority that characterized the pre-Hohenstaufen Alpine borderlands. The attribution to either Werinto or Dietrich remains unresolved — both were counts of Formbach active in this period, and the CNA cataloguers declined to assign the issue to either with confidence.
The county itself was absorbed into Bavarian noble networks following the extinction of the Formbach line in 1144, making this bracteate-adjacent pfennig among the last issues produced under independent comital authority there.
