Reverse description Depicted in low relief, a mounted equestrian figure is shown in profile facing right, seated upon a horse in a striding pose, with the rider appearing to carry a weapon or sceptre. To the left of the horse, a crescent or curved device is visible, a common heraldic or symbolic element on Formbach coinage of this period. The die work is rough and schematic, typical of hammered pfennigs struck under regional Austrian county authority in the first half of the 12th century. The flan is irregular and the reverse strike notably weaker than the obverse, with some areas of flat strike at the periphery.
