| Beschrijving voorzijde | Facing effigy of St. Dionysius, patron saint of Diessenhofen, depicted helmeted in a stylized Romanesque manner, with a broad, flat face rendered in low relief. The head is centered within the irregular flan, with partial legend visible in the field to either side. The lettering reads DIONYSIVS, identifying the saint, and is distributed around the periphery of the coin. The design is characteristic of the bracteate-influenced Swiss regional pfennig coinage of the mid-13th century, with bold, somewhat archaic facial features typical of the period. |
