Reverse description The reverse displays the incuse impression of the obverse design, as is characteristic of thin hammered pfennigs of this period, where the striking pressure causes the obverse design to appear in negative relief on the reverse. The field is largely plain and featureless aside from the ghost image of the central bust. The irregular flan shows typical medieval striking characteristics with an uneven surface and natural metal flow at the edges. No separate reverse design, legend, or mint mark is present.
