Beschrijving keerzijde Stylized church facade depicted in a simplified Romanesque manner, with a central portal surmounted by decorative cornice panels. The cornice panels bearing ringlets are rendered in higher relief, and the rim terminates in small knobs around the periphery. The overall design is characteristic of the bracteate-influenced ecclesiastical coinage of the Bishopric of Gurk, with bold and schematic architectural detail.

Aanvullende informatie

The Bishopric of Gurk, founded in 1072 by Archbishop Gebhard of Salzburg, operated as a suffragan see with intermittent minting rights that were exercised sporadically and often poorly documented. Attribution of its bracteate and pfennig issues to specific bishops remains unresolved for several pieces in the CNA sequence, this being one of them.
